Welcome to our week focused on our book ‘No Dinner!’ by Jessica Souhami. We started the week with a scavenger hunt to find the prize which was our PUMPKINS! We then made predictions about our book after finding out it was involving pumpkins. We then moved onto reading our book and re- enacting our story with amazing masks that we made! We loved acting. During the week we incorporated our book into lots of areas; we looked at the density of pumpkins and predicted whether different parts of the pumpkin might float, this was a lot of fun. In maths we were looking at non- standard measurements and pumpkins. We searched our classroom for non- standard ways of measuring, as you can see in the pictures we found cubes, water bottles and even Winnie the Pooh. In Art we focussed on drawing the Taj Mahal and decorating with marble designs. On Thursday we had a whole day focused on Indian culture as in the book the Granny and Granddaughter have an Indian feast! Well of course we had to do the same. We cooked delicious Onion Bhajis, pakoras and pumpkin and banana muffins. Afterwards we had a party with dancing and the girls tried on some bhindis.
