Oak Class had an amazing trip to the Imperial War Museum to learn more about World War Two. We even got to go inside a model house complete with Anderson Shelter!

They also learnt about causes of WW2 including “appeasement” and wrote their own debates for and against Neville Chamberlain’s controversial decision.

Appease means letting someone have their way. It was the way the British government dealt with Hitler’s Germany before the Second World War. It is mostly associated with the British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain. Hitler was allowed to take over areas of land in Europe, without a fight, in the hope that he would not go to war. Unfortunately it didn’t work.
