Communicating Effectively with Each Other
We value good communication between school, parents and the wider community. It is important to us and helps build a community of trust and understanding that is at the heart of a good school. If you would like to share something with us, our staff are always pleased to make time to speak with you face to face.
To speak to a teacher or the headteacher please call the school office to make an appointment. You can also speak directly to your child’s class teacher after school every day to pass on a piece of information or book in a meeting.
Please don’t simply approach teachers at the start of the day and expect a meeting then and there – they will be busy and there won’t be the time to give you the attention that you require and we want to offer. However a brief message for example, a change to who will be collecting your child at the end of the day is acceptable.
We don’t use email for extended communications with parents or carers. If you do email us your concerns we will offer to meet with you face to face and not respond by e mail to the issues you raise. Email is a very blunt tool and it is hard to convey deeper meaning and understanding in words on a page. Good communication and understanding relies much more on body language, tone of voice and empathy than it does in simple words and we want our communication with you to be clear, open and honest and productive. For transparency we will only communicate via email@example.com.
In common with most schools we do not consent to any conversations at school being recorded.
We will respond to any written communication from parents/carers within 10 school days.

Arrangements during COVID-19
Q. I go to Church regularly, what do I have to do to apply for a school place?
A. You need to ask your church leader (Vicar/Minister/Pastor) to sign the supplementary information form to confirm you have attended regularly for the last 2 years. We will check your form and might contact your church as part of the admissions process.
Q. I want to apply for next September, how can I show regular attendance if my church was closed?
A. We have updated our admissions policy to take this into account. If you had been attending church regularly for at least 18 months up to March 2020, you will meet the criteria for a Church place. You will need to ask your Vicar/Minister/Pastor to sign the supplementary form and return it to school before the deadline
If Covid restrictions continue to disrupt your regular worship, we are asking your Vicar/Minister/Pastor to confirm you are still involved in your church community.
This means taking part in online worship or keeping in regular contact with the leadership of your church. The form which your Vicar/Minister/Pastor needs to complete will say ‘The minister signing the form is asked to confirm that the family has been engaged with the Church throughout the COVID-19 period and attended at least fortnightly before restrictions prevented this.’.
Q. My church doesn’t have a Vicar/Minister/Pastor at the moment, who should sign the form?
A. Any of the leadership team of your church will do as a reference in the absence of a minister.
Q. I don’t go to church, can I still apply to the school?
A. Yes, absolutely. As a school we welcome all applications.
Q. I am not Christian, can my children go to the school?
A. Yes, absolutely. Our school has a Christian ethos which includes welcoming those of all faiths and none. Many parents and children who aren’t Christian find our friendly ethos and faith grounding helpful.
Q. I attend church regularly but changed church in the last 2 years, can I fill the church form in?
A.Yes, you will need to put down references for both church leaders so we can confirm your attendance.
