William Shakespeare was a poet, actor and dramatist and is often seen as the best writer in the English language. He lived in the late 16th and early 17th century, but his plays are still widely performed today.

Viola is one of the characters in a play called ‘The Twelfth Night.’ Viola finds herself shipwrecked at the beginning of the play and, refusing to become a servant, she disguises herself as a man so that she can make a living by working for Duke Orsino, the ruler of Illyria.
