This year our themed weeks have been centered around Rivers, Oceans and Seas. We have explored different groups of animals that live in the oceans – jellyfish, turtles, sharks and dolphins. We have been using our creativity to represent these animals through art. We made salt pictures of jellyfish and used our knowledge of patterns on Art day to create a beautiful turtle. We then explored rivers and streams. We discussed what rivers are and how they flow. We were so inspired by beavers in rivers that we decided to attempt building our own dams. We have also been looking at the book ‘Clean Up’ by Nathan Bryon. From this we cleaned up our own mini ocean and compared clean and dirty oceans and discussed the effect this has on sea life.
